The only healthcare project selected in the Ivace+i Innovation grant call for the development and strengthening of the Valencian Innovation System, corresponding to the 2025 financial year, will develop a pioneering remote anesthetic risk stratification system, the result of collaboration between technological, clinical, and academic entities.
The only healthcare project highlighted in the Ivace+i 2025 call
The ANESTECH innovation project was the only one in the healthcare sector selected in the Boost for Strategic Cooperation Projects 2025 program, obtaining funding in a highly competitive process. Ivace+i Innovation resolved this call, to which 107 proposals were submitted and only 22 were subsidized, representing a success rate of 20.6%. In this multisectoral context, ANESTECH stands out as a strategic initiative for the digital transformation of the healthcare system.
Valencian consortium: technology, cybersecurity, and clinical excellence
The consortium that will develop the project is made up of the following entities:
- ISECO Servicios Tecnológicos (as coordinator).
- S2 Grupo.
- The Institute of Biomechanics (IBV).
- The Research Foundation of the General University Hospital of Valencia (FIHGUV) together with the General Hospital of Valencia.
- The Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV).
This multidisciplinary alliance combines technological, clinical, academic, and cybersecurity expertise, guaranteeing a comprehensive approach aimed at generating a real impact on the healthcare system.
How does remote preanesthetic assessment with AI work?
The project, whose full title is “Preanesthetic risk stratification through remote patient assessment using secure AI-based tools”, will develop an innovative remote preoperative assessment model. The system will allow patients themselves, through their smartphones, to capture images and videos of their airway and complete a digital anamnesis questionnaire.
These data will be analyzed using advanced AI algorithms capable of carrying out a remote airway assessment, estimating anesthetic risk, and automatically classifying patients into different risk levels. In this way, clinical decision-making will be facilitated, optimizing resources and reducing the need for in-person consultations.
Main benefits of the digitalization of the preoperative process
ANESTECH represents a decisive step towards the secure digitalization of the preoperative process. It will allow early identification of low- and high-risk patients, reduce the workload of healthcare professionals, and improve accessibility to the system, especially for vulnerable groups or those with travel difficulties. Furthermore, its approach aligns with the priorities of the Specialized Strategic Innovation Committee (CEIE) in Health, focused on personalized care and the optimization of healthcare resources.
The future in public healthcare
The project has an approximate budget of 1.19 million euros from IVACE+i Innovation of the Generalitat Valenciana, within the framework of the Strategic Cooperation Projects Program. This initiative is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Program Comunitat Valenciana 2021–2027 and will be executed between November 2025 and December 2027.
This funding will allow the development of a pioneering solution with the capacity for implementation in hospitals in the Valencian Community and a high potential for transfer to other healthcare systems. ANESTECH thus consolidates a collaborative innovation model aimed at improving efficiency, clinical safety, and quality of care in the field of anesthesiology.
