If you walk down the hallway of a traditional care facility, there is a sound that will likely accompany you in the background: the constant ringing of the room call system. For decades, the patient-nurse system was conceived as a simple acoustic alarm. A “button” that turned on a light and forced the professional to drop whatever they were doing to quickly go to the room, often without knowing what they were going to find.
Today, the sector faces much more complex challenges. The lack of time, high staff turnover, and the transition towards Person-Centered Care (PCC) models demand that we stop “putting out fires” and start managing information intelligently.
For professionals to be able to dedicate their time to caregiving and not to unnecessary trips or paper note-taking with the bureaucratic burden it implies, assistive technology must take a qualitative leap. The different options of ISECO’s patient-nurse system adapt to the needs of each facility, improving the safety of residents and patients, as well as the efficiency of professionals.
The following table summarizes the paradigm shift of moving from a traditional system to a smart management system:
| Traditional System | ISECO System |
| Blind alert. The professional does not know the reason for the call until they reach the room. | Real-time information. Voice intercom and direct routing to wireless or mobile devices. |
| Paper bureaucracy. Care logging is done after the fact at the nursing station. | Point-of-care digitization. Immediate logging via touch screens right inside the room, automatically recorded in the facility’s software. |
| Acoustic stress. Constant ringing that disrupts the tranquility of the center (and of people with dementia). | Silent management. Alerts directed only to the responsible professional via their terminal, also generating a notice on the facility’s control panel. |
Comfort and reliability in every push button
The resident’s first contact with the system is the push button, so its design must combine comfort and reliability. Its light makes it easy to locate even at night, the visual signal confirms that the call has been sent, and the wiring incorporates an anti-breakage system thanks to its magnetic connector.
In spaces where safety is key, the new bathroom pull cord is moisture-resistant (IP67), features a call button, cancellation, and confirmation light, is available in wired or wireless versions, and adapts to any installation.
For discreet yet effective visual control, ISECO’s hallway light stands out for its high visibility, configurable colors (red, green, blue, and yellow), adjustable flashing, and optional acoustic alarm.
Five patient-nurse system solutions for every facility
Not all facilities start from the same technological level or have the same architectural infrastructure. With this diversity in mind, ISECO has developed 5 solutions ranging from the most advanced comprehensive management to the most basic needs:
PREMIUM Range
This is the ultimate solution for advanced touch-based management via a 10-inch screen. Its design offers high-quality two-way voice communication and guarantees secure access via PIN or card, thanks to its integrated RFID reader. On the software level, it centralizes care by allowing tasks to be logged in real-time and instantly viewing the resident’s vital information, such as their life plan, pathologies, and medication. Furthermore, it integrates with the facility’s management software, such as Resiplus or Aegerus. It stands out as a robust, fail-safe tool, featuring an offline mode to ensure data logging even if the connection fails. It also ensures calls are sent to a fixed station in the event of any main system failure and offers direct routing to DECT or mobile terminals.

ADVANCED Range
The perfect ally for digitizing the facility in a more standardized format. It shares the same advanced software with the Premium range, including real-time logging, integration with Resiplus/Aegerus, offline mode, and routing to DECT phones or mobiles. The main difference lies in the 8-inch touch screen and that access is secured solely by PIN.

SMART Range
The ideal balance through a smart interface. It features a 4-inch touch screen that allows configuring commands such as call, assistance, and code blue. It guarantees two-way voice communication via IP/SIP technology and full integration with the PBX. It allows routing to DECT cordless phones or mobiles and supports both wired and wireless push buttons.

BASIC Range
Efficiency and direct communication. Call system with integrated voice via IP/SIP, with call routing to DECT or mobile, Ethernet (PoE) and Wi-Fi connectivity. Its buttons include call, assistance, and code blue, and it allows the use of wired or wireless push buttons.

ENTRY Range
The agile response for fast deployments. Easy-to-install wireless call system, with call and presence buttons that send alerts via voice messages directly to DECT terminals. It includes a low battery alarm and guarantees full coverage.

CALAS: the brain of the patient-nurse system
Having a Basic Range for simple voice communication or the Premium Range to digitize the care plan is great, but having all the devices that make up the system without proper information management is not enough. The true transformation towards an efficient care model happens in integration.
Regardless of the chosen range, all ISECO systems are integrated under the same ecosystem: the CALAS platform. This software acts as the central brain, allowing data to be collected from any button, push button, or screen to centrally manage all alarms. In this way, the entire care team is efficiently coordinated, turning what used to be simple “ringing bells” into a true real-time management and safety network.
Technology for more human care
Renewing the patient-nurse system is not simply changing the bells on the wall. It is making a strategic decision about how we want our team to work and how we want our residents to live.
When we reduce noisy alarms, when the nursing assistant knows who and why they are going to attend before entering the room, and when we eliminate paperwork to log medication at the bedside, we are doing something much bigger than optimizing processes: we are giving time and dignity back to caregiving.
