The aging population is one of Europe’s major structural challenges. There are more elderly people, higher demand for care, fewer available staff, and resources that are not growing at the same pace. Given this scenario, technology is not a luxury: it is a necessity. Sensio has been developing technology to respond to these caregiving challenges since 2009.

What is Sensio?

Sensio is a Norwegian elderly care technology company, founded in 2009 in Oslo. It was created with a specific focus on developing technology for the care sector and has built its entire trajectory around that purpose.

Its mission is clear: to generate more time for care (#MoreTimeForCare). It achieves this by reducing unnecessary interruptions for staff, helping detect risk situations through rapid responses, and providing teams with real-time information to make better decisions.

What sets Sensio apart from other technology providers in the sector is that it develops its own software and the most critical parts of its hardware in-house. Its employees own approximately 30% of the company, which reflects their high level of commitment to the mission. Sensio holds an ISO 27001 certification in information security, and four of its products have earned the “Made in Norway” seal, an official certification requiring strict criteria for origin, responsibility, and sustainability.

In 2024, Nordic Capital, one of the leading European investors in healthcare technology, acquired a majority stake in Sensio to accelerate its international expansion and strengthen its technological platform. This was a step that anticipated what was to come in 2026: its arrival in Spain through ISECO.

Sensio’s solutions: smart technology for safer and more efficient care

Sensio offers an ecosystem of solutions designed to work together, giving staff a comprehensive view of the facility from a single interface.

RoomMate: Sensio’s flagship product. It is an infrared sensor installed in rooms that continuously and non-intrusively monitors resident activity—without cameras and without altering their routines. It detects potential falls and generates automatic alerts for the team. It is currently installed in over 20,000 rooms across Europe. In facilities like Richmond Manor (UK), its implementation reduced falls by 83%.

Sensio 365: The eHealth platform that centralizes all of the facility’s care technology. It handles alarms, alerts, monitoring, and communication in a single interface, accessible from a mobile phone, a control screen, or any connected device. It also integrates assistive technology solutions from other providers, making it the digital core of the center rather than a closed system.

Sensio Insight A tool that analyzes data to identify changes in residents’ behavioral patterns, helping the care team make better decisions. It is a clinical decision support tool, not a reactive alarm. It won the EHiN Awards 2024 for its contribution to the sustainability of the healthcare system.

Sensio Pocket y Vista The direct interfaces for staff. These devices and screens allow them to receive alerts, manage tasks, and access resident information anywhere in the center, without interrupting direct care.

Sensio in Europe: from Norwegian origins to international expansion

Sensio has followed a progressive geographic expansion strategy, building on real-world implementations and measurable results in each market before taking the next step.

Norway: The company’s origin and the market with the highest penetration. Over 50% of all elderly care providers across Norway, Sweden, and Denmark use its solutions. It is also where the products have been developed and refined for over a decade.

Sweden and Denmark: These countries consolidated Sensio’s Nordic presence. With offices in Stockholm, Malmö, and Copenhagen, Sensio built the core of its European business before looking westward.

The United Kingdom: The primary reference market outside of Scandinavia. Sensio was recognized as Supplier of the Year at the Care Home Professional Leaders in Care Awards 2025. Partnerships with groups like Lovett Care and Cinnamon Care Collection demonstrate its solid establishment in the Anglo-Saxon market.

Germany, France, and Iceland: Markets in active expansion, featuring an established presence and sustained growth over recent years.

Spain and Portugal: The newest milestone, spearheaded by ISECO.

ISECO and Sensio: a shared vision to transform care

The acquisition of ISECO by Sensio in March 2026 was not an isolated financial decision. It was the meeting of two companies that, from opposite ends of Europe, had spent decades building the exact same approach to care.

Technology must free up time, not add complexity. Both Sensio and ISECO have always designed their solutions with the everyday professional in mind: if the technology doesn’t make their job easier, it doesn’t serve its purpose. That principle guided the development of RoomMate in Oslo and CALAS in Valencia.

Innovation must be measurable in well-being. Neither company innovates just for the sake of it. Sensio measures the impact of its products through reduced falls, time freed up for care, and improved decision-making. ISECO does the exact same with every implementation in Spain and Portugal.

Resident dignity is non-negotiable. Supervision without intrusion, autonomy without risk, and technology that protects without surveilling. This is Sensio’s commitment with RoomMate, and ISECO’s commitment with its care systems.

Ongoing support is part of the product. Neither Sensio nor ISECO simply sells technology and disappears. Both business models are built on training, support, and continuous accompaniment for the care centers.

The result of this union is a group that will exceed €85 million in revenue in the European residential sector and serve over 300,000 users. For the centers working with ISECO, it means greater investment capacity, access to solutions proven across Europe, and the guarantee that ISECO remains ISECO: with the same team, the same essence, and the same commitment as always—now backed by a European leader.

Sensio and ISECO: more time to care, across Europe

Technology for elderly care is not a niche. It is one of the most important answers Europe can provide to its aging population. Sensio has been building that answer in the north of the continent for over fifteen years. ISECO has been doing it in the south for over twenty-eight.

Together, they are doing it from the Mediterranean to the Arctic.
